Our Overnight Camel Trekking Merzouga begins in the late afternoon as we depart from the Kasbah Hotel towards the Merzouga Desert Camp. Along the way, marvel at the mesmerizing views of the desert landscape and take in the beauty of the surrounding dunes. Upon arrival at the camp, enjoy a warm welcome with traditional mint tea before settling into your private tent for the night. Indulge in a mouthwatering Moroccan dinner and immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of the desert with a drum circle under the starlit sky. As you retire to your tent, let the tranquil desert surroundings lull you into a peaceful slumber.
The following morning, wake up to the soft glow of the sunrise illuminating the desert landscape. After a hearty breakfast and refreshing shower, bid farewell to the desert as we embark on a camel ride back to the Kasbah Hotel. Reflect on your unforgettable experience as you journey through the desert, taking in the breathtaking beauty of the Sahara one last time.
Prepare for your adventure with comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for walking and sandboarding. Long sleeves and pants are recommended to protect against the desert sun, and don’t forget to bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and a head covering. For those who prefer not to ride camels, a 4×4 transfer option is available. Charging facilities for phones and cameras are provided at the camp, powered by solar panels.
There are several options for transportation to Merzouga from Marrakech and Fes. From Marrakech, you can take a bus operated by Supratours departing at 8:00 in the morning and arriving in Merzouga around 21:00. From Fes, the Supratours bus leaves at 19:00 and arrives in Merzouga around 06:00 the next day. Alternatively, if you’re driving, you can reach our guesthouse in Hassi Labied, Merzouga area.
No, you won’t need a sleeping bag for our overnight camel ride. Our desert camp provides all necessary bedding, including real beds, pillows, and ample blankets for a comfortable night’s sleep under the desert sky.
The camel trek in the Sahara as part of our overnight experience lasts approximately an hour and a half (1h 30min). This duration includes a stop for watching the sunset and enjoying sandboarding activities if you’re interested.
The Standard Camp offers private tents with shared and separate toilets and showers. On the other hand, the Superior Camp provides private tents with their own bathroom, toilet, and hot water facilities inside each tent for added comfort and convenience.
Yes, we offer a transfer to and from the desert camp by 4WD vehicle as an alternative to camel rides for those who prefer not to ride camels. This option is available at no extra charge.
Yes, at our desert camps, we utilize solar panels, and there is a designated area where you can charge your phones and cameras, ensuring you can capture every moment of your experience in the Sahara.
For daytime, lightweight, loose clothing is recommended, while evenings can be cool, especially in winter, so bring a jacket or lightweight cover-up. Additionally, long sleeves and pants or skirts are advisable for the camel trek and sandboarding activities. Sunglasses, sunscreen, and comfortable walking shoes are also essential.
To confirm your booking, we require a small deposit to be paid via PayPal, Wise, or bank transfer. The remaining balance can be settled in cash upon pick-up at our guesthouse in euros, dollars, or dirhams. Alternatively, we may accept full payment via PayPal with a 5% surcharge to cover transaction fees.
